Louisiana Occupational Therapy Association

• is funded by voluntary membership of OTs and COTAs throughout the state - without adequate voluntary membership, we cannot stay afloat. 
• serves to advocate for OT practitioners in Louisiana and to provide resources and education to our clinicians so that they can deliver best practice to our clients.
• LOTA board members, council chairs, and committee members are all volunteers - they freely give their own time/service to contribute to the greater good of all Louisiana OT clinicians.
• LOTA provides (pays for) a lobbyist for representation of OTs and COTAs at the state political and legislative level.

Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners 

• is funded by required dues/fees for state licensure and permits by: acupuncturists, athletic trainers, clinical exercise physiologists, clinical laboratory personnel, genetic counselors, licenses midwives, medical psychologists, occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants, physicians and physician assistants, perfusionists, podiatrists, polysomnography personnel, private radiological technologists, and respiratory therapists. 
• LSBME provides Louisiana with an Occupational Therapy Advisory Committee (OTAC). This board serves to protect the consumers of occupational therapy, to regulate the services, as well as to advise LSBME on issues/concerns related to the practice of occupational therapy. 
• OTAC members are appointed by and reimbursed for travel expenses by LSBME for their time/service to contribute to the committee.
