Our Mission statement. And how we fulfill it.

VISION

LOTA is an association committed to being a voice in the forefront of progress and innovation for the OT profession - enhancing health and well-being through the utilization of best occupational therapy practices in Louisiana.

MISSION

The Mission of LOTA is to advocate for our profession through state policies and laws, to promote high standards of clinical competency, and to facilitate statewide relationships within our community.

CORE VALUES

  • Client & Community-Centered: LOTA values our profession and the unique skill sets and approaches OTPs utilize to impact our individual clients and our greater community through persistent education, research, and advocacy

  • Advancement & Innovation: We are an ever-evolving association that serves as a catalyst, promoting health and well-being by inspiring compassionate, enthusiastic occupational therapy practitioners that seek to provide services to all who can benefit from our skillset.  Through forward thinking we envision the need for change and innovation.

  • Inclusivity & Engagement: We provide a network to strengthen the sense of a diverse community so that OTPs in LA can “feel at home” with others who share their passions and creativity. We represent practitioners within current and emerging practice areas across LA to ensure every voice is heard. We embrace diversity and acknowledge the need to support growth and development of all practitioners within the state.

  • Integrity & Transparency: We are dedicated to the advancement of occupational therapy and our stakeholders.  We need self-motivated people who are passionate about the occupational therapy profession. We value ethical practice by our members which in turn drives the organizations adherence to ethical business practice.  In light of our advocacy role, it is critical that our profession is viewed as trustworthy through modeling of our core values.

Who is LOTA?

The LOTA Board of Directors consists of our executive officers, who are voted for by members, and our counsel and district chairs, who are appointed by our president. All members of the Board are volunteers who collectively organize professional events, advocacy, membership, and communications/publications on the state level. All LOTA members have the opportunity to participate in continuing education and advocacy events, district and state meetings, social networking and volunteering activities while providing financial support (including administrative and lobbyist services, website, and local CE courses) to keep LOTA moving forward.
