CE Approval Process

Get continuing education hours/credits approved for licensure renewal.

Most Louisiana Occupational Therapy Practitioners are required to obtain at least 12 contact hours (or 1.2 units) of continuing education (CE) yearly to meet requirements for annual state licensure renewal by LSBME (refer to their website for further details and exceptions).

Per our state rules, any course meeting the state standards (prescribed by §1967.A.-D) offered through AOTA, through an AOTA approved provider, or through LOTA shall be presumptively deemed approved by LSBME.

Single Course Approval

LOTA's single course approval authorizes continuing education providers to issue LOTA continuing education hours (CE hours). These CE hours are approved by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners (LSBME) for license renewal.

Approved Provider Program

The LOTA Approved Provider Program (APP) authorizes continuing education providers to issue LOTA continuing education hours (CE hours). These CE hours are approved by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners (LSBME) for license renewal.

LOTA CE Approval Process

Submit the appropriate Course Approval Form and Payment by mail or click here to pay online.
Review Charge: Individual course under 8 hours: $75; Individual Course 8 hours or over: $100; Conference/Workshop (allowing up to 4 individual courses): $200 with an additional $35 for approval of each individual course over 4.
The Course Approval Form will go to a committee for review.

* LOTA will have 30 days to review and provide approval once all documentation and payment has been receive

* All courses will be reviewed using a form created based on the Qualifying Continuing Professional Education Standards stated

in the Rules.

Upon completion, you will receive a letter of approval with the approval dates included.
The CE Provider is responsible for submitting the letter of approval to CE Broker.
